Isabelle Dorman, Social Media and Graphic Design
My name is Isabelle and I am so excited to be a Social Media and Graphic Design Intern for Novel Hand this summer! I am a rising junior at Vanderbilt University, where I am studying Human and Organizational Development with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness and minoring in Italian Studies. I am from Simsbury, Connecticut, a small town in northern Connecticut. In my spare time, I love practicing yoga, reading contemporary fiction novels, spending time with my family and friends, and enjoying my favorite Starbucks drink, a strawberry açai refresher with lemonade.
As a Social Media and Graphic Design Intern for Novel Hand, I will be creating content for Novel Hand’s various social media channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I am also extremely excited to gain a deeper understanding of marketing skills such as analytics, search engine optimization, and website design. As someone who hopes to pursue a job in digital marketing post-graduation, I am looking forward to this invaluable opportunity to learn and grow in the field that I am most passionate about! I am so honored to be a part of the Novel Hand team this summer and expand its incredible content to a greater community!

Ali White, Marketing and Partnerships
My name is Ali White and I am so excited to join the Novel Hand family for the summer as a Marketing and Partnerships Intern. Along with the internship, I am also finishing up my last three classes at Belmont University and will be graduating with my BA in Spanish and Global Leadership Studies on August 7th. In the fall, I will be attending Vanderbilt University for my Masters of Marketing. I’m so excited! As for a little bit about me, I’m originally from Southlake, Texas, a suburb in between Dallas and Fort Worth. I grew up always running around barefoot outside. I love being outdoors, whether that be sitting and reading a book, exercising, hiking, or tanning. Before COVID-19, I worked as an Operations Associate at a workout studio called barre3 in Nashville.
As a Marketing and Partnerships Intern, I will be developing and defining Novel Hand’s brand, determining potential partnerships with similar companies, planning ways to increase engagement with Novel Hand’s content, and more! I have always had a heart for communities in need and am attending Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management because I am passionate to learn more strategic skills to solve some of the humanitarian issues we talk about at Novel Hand. I am extremely honored to be a part of this team, and I am so excited to learn from each of you about ways to grow as a community that loves people well!

Pragya Bhagat, Writing and Research
My name is Pragya and I am thrilled to be joining the Novel Hand community as a Writing and Research Intern this summer. I am a rising senior at Vanderbilt University, where I am double-majoring in Human and Organizational Development and Economics. I split my time between Nashville and Indore, my hometown in India. I’m super interested in issues of development, inequality, gender and politics in developing countries.
As a writing intern for Novel Hand, I want to explore everything from the status of immigrants in the United States, to women empowerment in India. Since I want to work as an international development consultant after graduation, I believe asking questions and learning about a wide range of international issues is crucial. I feel grateful to be a part of the Novel Hand community with people who are committed to learning about global humanitarian issues!

Kelly Edwards, Writing and Research
My name is Kelly Edwards and I am excited to join the Novel Hand team for the summer as a Writing and Research Intern. I am a rising senior at Vanderbilt University studying Public Policy and Child Development, with a minor in Human and Organizational Development. I am from Madison, New Jersey, a town about an hour west of New York City. I love being outside, whether that’s exploring a new place, hiking, or just going for a walk in my neighborhood.
As a Writing and Research Intern, I want to explore the issues of education equity in the United States and the confounding variables that directly impact students’ access to a quality education, especially during this time of COVID-19. Additionally, I want to look at the justice system specifically for juveniles, what the school-to-prison pipeline is, and alternatives we can look at such as restorative justice to keep youth out of the justice system. I plan to work in education policy and law in the future and am excited to use this experience to deepen my understanding of these issues as well as learn from my peers at Novel Hand. I am so excited to be a part of a community exploring these key humanitarian issues, and the skills and tools that we can use to help solve these big questions.

Yuna Jeon, Writing and Research
My name is Yuna and I’m pumped to join Novel Hand this summer as a Writing and Research Intern. I’m a rising sophomore at Vanderbilt University currently double-majoring in Human and Organizational Development and Spanish with hopes of dabbling in Latin American Studies and Political Science. I live in Chandler, Arizona (about a 30 minute drive from Phoenix), and in my free time, I like to photoblog, hone my language skills, and watch comedy shows and K-dramas!
As a Writing and Research Intern, I want to combine my interests within the intersection of diverse backgrounds and approaches to societal reform with my desire to strengthen my journalistic writing! Over the past few years, I’ve been exposed to certain events and relations that led me to become drawn to addressing sexual and domestic violence and the rights of racial/ethnic groups and neurodevelopmental minorities. Throughout this summer, I hope to continue learning about the cultural and socioeconomic nuances of these issues through both specific and interwoven lenses. As for the rest of my college career, I plan to continue my involvement in political science research, sexual assault awareness and prevention efforts on campus, translation and interpretation for a school-affiliated immigration clinic and the Next Steps program at Vanderbilt (an inclusive higher education program for students with intellectual disabilities).

Eve Hammerle, Writing and Research
My name is Eve and I’m so excited to join the Novel Hand team this summer as a writing and research intern. I’m a rising senior at the University of Virginia double majoring in English with a focus on Modern and Global Studies and Public Policy. I’m from New York City and I love spending time in the parks, biking, and trying out new restaurants (only take-out for now)!
As a Writing and Research intern, I hope to learn more about pressing humanitarian issues and strengthen my writing skills. I want to deeply investigate modern issues, especially surrounding COVID-19, and create written content for the website. I’m specifically interested in learning more about the intersection of environmental justice and racial inequality, especially regarding urban planning in cities. I’m also really passionate about ending gender-based violence and sexual assault. I’m involved with campus sexual assault prevention efforts at UVA, and hope to write and research about this topic in a humanitarian context. After graduating next spring, I plan to work in policy analysis or public affairs and hopefully attend law school in the future. I am so thankful for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with this incredible team this summer!
