Meet Jarred

Hi! My name is Jarred. I am a contributor for Novel Hand and a current Senior at The University of Texas at Austin. I am currently pursuing a double major in the Human Dimensions of Organizations and Corporate Communication with a plan to begin a career in consulting once I graduate. I am really excited to be working on the new podcast, Handful, and look forward to talking about a variety of social issues. Outside of Novel Hand, I am really passionate about traveling, music, and Chinese food.

Overall, my interests in humanitarian issues started at a young age. Both of my grandparents worked at the United Nations and I loved listening to the plethora of stories they would tell me about their day to day responsibilities. They were able to travel the world and make a difference each and every day. Listening to their stories as a child challenged me to think about how I could make my own impact on the world around me. Whether that be by educating myself, serving locally, or volunteering overseas, I have continuously learned that there is always something you can do to help. 

I hope to continue learning and growing alongside the Novel Hand community as a host of Handful. My goal is that I help others learn something new, find an issue they’re passionate about, or just learn what Activism, Meet Impact means to them. I am so excited for this journey and I look forward to what the future holds.
