Our team is excited to welcome eight interns– representing seven schools– this spring! Get to know them below.
Hannah, Business Development
I am currently a sophomore at Vanderbilt University studying Human & Organizational Development with minors in Business and Psychology. In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, reading and eating lots of dessert! I’m really looking forward to being able to help Novel Hand take the vision to be the intersection between activism and impact and grow that into a sustainable business to reach a large audience.
Brylie, Writing & Research
I am a junior at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in International and Area Studies with a concentration in Global Cultural Studies. I am excited to have the opportunity to deepen my own perspectives on important social issues, as well as work alongside and learn from the talented individuals here at Novel Hand.
Delia, Writing & Research
I am from Columbus, Ohio and am a junior at Wheaton College, Massachusetts studying Environmental Science and Sociology. I love learning about the natural world from an ecological perspective, but at Novel Hand, I want to explore holistic ways to remedy environmental degradation through also addressing social issues like gender and racial inequity, poverty, and hunger. When not tied up with school, I am likely working in my garden, birding, or tending to my sourdough starter and SCOBY.
Olivia, Writing & Research
I’m Olivia, and I’m from Morristown, TN. I am a recent graduate of Belmont University, where I double majored in Faith & Social Justice and Communications. I’m excited to be writing for Novel Hand before I pursue my Masters of Divinity! While working with Novel Hand, I hope to explore impact areas where it has to do with poverty or issues within the criminal justice system. In my free time, you can find me reading, writing, adventuring with friends, or spending as much time outside as possible.
David, Writing & Research
Originally from Minneapolis, I am a recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a major in International and Area Studies and minors in Urban Studies and Computer Science. At Novel Hand, I hope to explore issues of social and economic equity in Latin America and the United States by learning and writing about topics related to development, labor, and urbanism, to name a few. In my free time, I love doing puzzles, constantly listen to music, and play for WashU’s Contraband ultimate frisbee team.
Niharika, Business Development
I’m from Falls Church, Virginia and I’m a first year at the University of Virginia. While I’m undecided about my major, I’m considering studying Math and Economics. In my free time, I love spending time outdoors, reading novels, and discovering new music. This spring, I’m looking forward to helping Novel Hand grow and reach larger audiences to really strengthen and maximize the impact that the team’s voices can have. I also hope to educate and further dedicate myself to the integral issues raised by the organization.
Valerie, Writing & Research
I am currently a junior studying Cultural Anthropology with certificates in Journalism and Human Needs & Global Resources at Wheaton College (IL). I am from Semarang, Indonesia and I like to spend my free time reading, journaling, watching movies, and riding horses. At Novel Hand, I am hoping to understand more deeply about pressing issues in Indonesia concerning environmental justice and human rights while learning from my supervisors and fellow interns.
Jacob, Multimedia
I’m a current sophomore at Northwestern University, and I’m double majoring in journalism and history. I’m from Columbus, Ohio, and I’m passionate about the intersection of accessibility and advocacy in storytelling. I’m excited to help expand Novel Hand’s multimedia presence and explore essential issues such as education inequities over the next few months.
