Meet Katie!

katie danforth

Hello, my name is Katie Danforth and I’m excited to join Novel Hand as a new contributor! I’m a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison where I received a BS in Political Science and Gender and Women’s Studies.

I’ve always been passionate about education and recognizing the significance that it has in my life. I’m a firm believer that education is one of the most valuable tools that a person can have; that’s why education is such an important topic to focus on, particularly through an intersectional lens. It lets us thoroughly examine the shortcomings of the educational system (for me the American educational system) and fix those gaps.

In my case, I’m concerned with the flaws that tend to disproportionately affect female students in particular. My interests primarily lay in public policy and politics, influenced by my passion for advocating for women’s rights. By that, I mean that I enjoy exploring the ways in which policies and laws impact constituents and investigating how to improve them in a meaningful way.

I’m excited to have the chance to learn more from my fellow Novel Hand contributors about their areas of interest and to grow as an individual and writer!
