New Federal Case Alleges that Nestle, Hershey’s, Mars and other Chocolate Companies Use Forced Child Labor

  • Human rights firm International Rights Advocates filed a case on behalf of eight former child slaves against chocolate companies Nestlé, Cargill, Barry Callebaut, Mars, Olam, Hershey and Mondelēz in Washington DC.
  • The Malian citizens allege that they were forced to work on cocoa plantations in Ivory Coast and that they were not paid for their labor. 
  • The case is similar to another case that was argued in front of the Supreme Court in December
